The activities of the National Equipment Identity Register or NEIR will start from July 1. The activity will be carried on experimentally. The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) said in a statement on June 28. According to the telecom regulator, the IMEI of the mobile phone used with the customer's National Identification Number and SIM Number (MSISDN) will be registered at NEIR. The handsets currently connected to the mobile phone network will be automatically registered by June 30. As a result, the new mobiles that will be added to the network from July 1 will be initially activated in the network and the validity will be verified through NEIR. According to BTRC, if the handset is valid, it will be automatically registered with NEIR and will be active in the network. If not, customers will be notified via SMS about handsets and will be connected to the network for three months during the test period. After the trial period would be over, further action will be taken as per the decision of the government.
